They have a brief relationship and then each goes their separate ways
Narrative
Mathieu lives in Paris, Alice in a small seaside village. To wash away his melancholy, Mathieu goes to the thalassotherapy center, where he accidentally finds Alice.
Winter Moon Rising by Michael Allen Levine & Samuel B Levine
When Mathieu receives a call from the director of the theater whose production he abandoned, the director’s voice is performed by the director himself, Stephane Brisé. This French film by Stephane Brisé is a sensitive drama/romance in which old lovers meet again at different stages of their lives.
There are subtle humor and sweet interactions
Guillaume Canet and Alba Rohrwacher are a well-cast couple whose chemistry is essential to the film’s plot. I’m a little torn because the film’s portrayal of their (re)relationship is very nuanced and rings true.
his painful characters are depicted appropriately
For example, there’s a wedding scene where two men "sing" (wild) like birds among themselves, talking quite eloquently and magnetically – would have looked at this page. However, the film is painfully slow, emotionally short and runs almost two hours longer than what would have made it a more effective running time and Brizé’s long shots are beautiful but rather raw, like his inner life.
